Patrik Ayers:
2330-2364

Patrik Ayer's life was devoted to the protection of the innocent, even at a young age. Born on Earth, Patrik grew up entrenched in the news of the Mining Revolt massacres. Although he was nervous, he wanted to be able to protect his family from harm. Enlisting in the UGAF, he was deployed only months after the revolts officially ended. While he did not see any major combat action, he did not feel that his service was important enough. After leaving service, he traveled to Desertia in 2352, where he stayed ever since.

He first came into the spotlight after seeing the lawless state of Desertia as a whole, with towns such as Gerian ripe with crime. Seeing muggings, robbery, and murder all too often in a town he called home, he decided to take action against the growing crime wave. Almost a full year before Close Endeavor decided to set up a post in town, Patrik Ayers round up a troupe of willing volunteers who would bring law to an increasingly lawless town. With a gun in hand and a good head on his shoulders, Ayers founded the Gerian Militia in 2362 AD. Even as the Close Endeavors security forces took on official policing duties, the Militia was still a trusted source for law enforcement within the town.

In late 2364, as the Veratic Empire's advance grew desperate, they began construction of what was known as the "End Time" project, a large space station orbiting Desertia capable of delivering a precise and devastating blast to anywhere on the planet. This strategic weapon of mass destruction would beckon the entire planet into its destruction: this wouldn't occur so long as there was air in Ayers' lungs. Joining a group of elite fighters and special forces from the planet, he helped destroy wave after wave of defending Veratics, hell-bent on using their weapon. As the group neared their objective, they had to make a decision: someone would have to stay behind in order to ensure the destruction of the station and the safe return of the others. Without so much as a doubt, Patrick Ayers stepped up to the line and volunteered for his final act. The station began its self destruct sequence, and Ayers was last seen behind a set of airlock doors as the escape ship jettisoned away. And so with his last act and his last breath, he knew that he had stopped an empire and saved millions of lives below.

A friend of Ayers and survivor of the End-Time Project's destruction had this to say,
Recently, the massive "End-Time" project of the Veractic Empire was detonated in a massive explosion. The mission was a success, but it came at great cost.

One man made the greatest sacrifice for his planet, for his friends, and for all of us.

One man stood in the face of death and embraced it, to save a way of life we have all grown to love. To save a world of millions, millions he has never met and who may never even know his name.

This man was Patrik Ayers.

Savior of Desertia
Destroyer of the Empire

We salute you.
For his actions, a statue now resides within town in his likeness.
In addition, the Close Endeavors Air Base was renamed to the, "Patrik Ayers Air Force Base."
